Early form of House featuring a dark and minimal sound design based around the "squelching" Acid [Electronic] basslines and synthesizer-sequencer arpeggios created with the Roland TB-303. Initially emerged as Chicago Acid House within the established Chicago House scene in the mid-1980s. By the end of the 1980s the sound of acid house made its way to the UK's club scene and subsequently became a cutting-edge style of house with producers across Europe practicing the popular derivative UK Acid House –a style related equally to Hip House as Chicago house– as acid house gained popularity and the Rave scenes the genre helped birth –see Acid House Party–continued to mature a substyle called Rave House blended piano stabs and more melodicism with the acid house sound.
